The layout depicted a quarry somewhere in the Peak District of Derbyshire and comprised of a double track main line with the associated quarry sidings. The latter were operated by the quarry's own fleet of locomotives in the livery of 'Valley Aggregates'
Of particular interest was the quarry face which formed the backsceen.
Folllowing a decision to keep Hasland Loco Shed permanently erected in the Clubroom the layout was revised to make it an end to end layout by introducing a terminal station. The layout was exhibited in this form before retiring it from exhibitions. Space was availble in the clubroom for the layout to be permanently erected for members to enjoy and much use continues to be made of this facility with many new ideas being tested.
As time progressed the original Quarry feature saw little use and as a result it was felt that something more in keeping with current members interests would be more appropriate. The area of the Quarry has now been replaced by the premises of a Preservation Society which enables members to run their (very varied) locomotives and stock. A selection of photographs showing the current format of the layout follow and will be added to as further changes are made.
